How Repeaters Work

Repeaters function by listening to audio transmitted from your handheld or mobile radios and retransmitting that audio over a longer distance, reaching other two-way radios that otherwise wouldn’t be within your coverage area.

They typically use frequencies licensed by the company deploying the repeater and are used within an organization, rather than for general purpose communications like lease roads.
